Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

I teach first grade at a Charter School in a very low income district in New York. My students work extremely hard and deserve every advantage we can give them.

We do not have a school library, so our classroom library is our only reliable source of books. Unfortunately, in first grade, some books get lost between home and school or are loved a little bit too hard and have missing pages.

We need books, books, and more books! First Graders need challenging books to build literacy skills. Just as important, they need to read interesting books to build a love of reading that will stay with them for their lifetimes.

With your help, these First Graders will have some fabulous books to read! These books will help them continue to grow as readers and inspire them to enjoy reading even more!
