The students at my school are multicultural, creative, and amazing! We have families who come from all over the world such as Nigeria, Vietnam, Mexico, Iraq, other states, and a mix of students with purely Oklahoma roots as well. The ability levels and income backgrounds of our students varies greatly as they are a true representation of America.
What makes our school unique is that poverty rate of 65% pushes the staff to work a little harder at times to meet all student's needs.
We overcome challenges of all kinds daily without making excuses. Please choose to support this project as it will make a big difference in our school.
My Project
We recently received a Community Foundation grant that allowed us to put in an asphalt track which surrounds the soccer field. We will use the space for recess, running clubs, as well as before/during/after school sports. We need to provide seating during games and for parents.
Our main goals are to increase participation in health related sports activities.
We want our students to develop healthy lifestyles and have opportunities to practice the skills needed to be successful in sports. Our playground is open to the community as after school and sports teams use it for practice as well.
Healthy lifestyles are important to provide stamina for learning. Students who are active and eat healthy tend to do better in school and it also helps students who struggle to pay attention due to ADHD.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
