This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

FIT INTELLIGENT T-BREDS! The Thoroughbred, our school mascot is a perfect example of fitness. We believe physical activity can have an impact on cognitive skills and academic behavior. The addition of kettlebells to our existing Wellness Center will help us reach our goal to be F.I.T.

Our physical education students are 9th - 12th grades students in a Title I school.

Our class sizes are often up to 67 in a class. They majority of our school is made up of students of Cuban descent. The students are taking a class called Personal Fitness which is required for graduation.

My Project

The kettlebells requested would allow another movement station in our existing Wellness Center. The Wellness Center has cardiovascular, flexibility, and strength equipment obtained entirely from grant sources. With the kettlebells the students will be able to include a more challenging strength training station to their routine and learn just how much strength they actually have.

It is difficult to provide enough equipment to engage 67 students at one time safely.

If a donation is made to our Wellness Center we will be able to engage 15 more students each period. Given that we have 7 periods there will be 105 more students moving toward fitness!
