The students are an amazing group of kids with wholesome family values and good moral compasses. They spend their extracurricular time in 4H Club or running with running clubs for local benefits. They have strong ties to their community, and you will often see them actively participating in neighborhood events.
This is truly a reflection of our school, as well.
We have an open campus with a welcoming vibe. Parents are on campus to eat lunch, volunteer with reading, gardening, and club sponsors are present as well.
My Project
Please help give my students copies of the Sunshine State Young Readers Award Books list for 2021-2022. I am always trying to grow my classroom library and give my students the newest, most diverse, and high interest books available.
Believing in reading is believing in students and the future of education!
A child’s potential for success in school begins with one easy activity that can be done with all children to ensure better school performance and that is simply to READ. It is fact that children who are exposed to books and read each day become better readers and are more successful in school than children who don’t have the same advantage.
Research shows that helping children bridge what is in a story and their own lives helps books come to life. Children are then able to imagine themselves in a character’s place. This helps them acquire invaluable problem solving skills for the rest of their lives. Having a wide variety of books that students can readily get into their hands within the classroom without having to venture to a bookstore or library is imperative and helps every reader make these connections.
Lastly and the most important to me as an educator, is fostering a life long love of books and reading. Reading can provide warm and positive feelings between children and the people that share in these stories with them. Every recommendation for a good fit boot, read aloud, or independently read story helps my students understand and love the world of sounds and language.
