Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Monday through Friday, I walk into a classroom with a group of students who I am ready to teach and prepare for the future. I teach at a Title I school that is in an economically challenged area. The majority of my students come from a low socio-economic background. Despite these circumstances, they are bright eyed, capable students, who dream big and strive to accomplish their goals. Students' learning needs are very diverse, making it important to differentiate instruction and challenge all students to their full potential. I am constantly thinking of new ideas and strategies to introduce information to my students so that all students can access the curriculum.

My Project

As teachers, our role is not only to teach, but also to inspire our students and encourage them believe in themselves. Through motivation and inspiration, students will reach within themselves to bring out their best possible selves. All of my students are capable learners who would benefit from encouragement and motivation. Both the growth mindset posters and the framed UC Berkeley poster, will provide students with daily reminders that through hard work and dedication, they can reach for the stars and begin to work towards the steps that will allow them to fulfill their dreams in the future. The positive themes contained in the children's books will serve to further this message. Overall, a classroom environment that is positive and motivational will serve to remind students of their self worth and the importance of fulfilling both their short and long term goals.
