My Project
My goal for all students is to be self-learners. I want them to love to learn. To reach this goal, the environment needs to be structured, engaging, and comfortable for each individual. My classroom is a resource room for Kindergarten - 5th grade and Hogwarts is the theme. Even students who are too young to have read or watched a movie about this theme want to believe in the magic of learning. We have the magic inside us and it is called READING.
To achieve this, I am adding flexible seats on the floor of the classroom library where they will read or listen to books they CHOOSE to read.
I have requested the Dogman books that generate a lot of interest. There are never enough copies. The extra headphones are for those who forget their own, it saves time to have an extra set available. While we do the Daily 5, intervention groups can meet with me concentrating on specific skills using the high-interest materials from Lakeshore literacy kits. The Owl Echo Dot I requested is just fun, it can be our timer, calm music and so much more. Many of my students are behind in reading, writing, and social skills due to absences during the COVID year and a bus strike. They need to move around every 20 minutes at the very least. The twist-and-turn fidgets will help them make it through the 20 minutes. Our students can be enthusiastic readers and lifelong learners.
