Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students at my school vary in age from preschool to upper elementary. They are a diverse group of children. Our school community is a blend of beautiful cultures and languages.

My students challenge themselves to be better citizens each and every day.

Our students benefit from the safe and nurturing environment that we provide at school.

My students build strong relationships with their teachers and other staff members. We all work together to build a strong sense of community in our school.

My Project

My students need to visit my office for small group counseling or individual counseling on a daily basis. Picture books allow students to form connections with characters that experience the same emotions as they do. Books have a huge impact in helping students understand that they are not alone. No matter what language my students speak, they are able to connect with illustrations.

Art materials allow my students to paint, reflect, and express their feelings in a safe and nurturing way.

Art activities are important for all children-especially the more reserved students.

There are times where students need immediate support and the flip charts and flashcards can help them identify ways to make better choices. The feelings resources will allow me to support those students that just "drop by" and need counseling.
