My students need hands-on manipulative such as the Create-A-Path Magnetic Center and Science Interactive Software Suite to become better mathematicians and scientists.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My PreK program is an income-based program. All my students come from low-income households. Many comes from a single family home. I would like to present my students with learning materials that they would normally not have access to. They need the technology and hands-on manipulative to compete in today’s world. They need the tool to help them be successful, so they are not trying to catch up with peers their age. My PreK students are special. This is their first year in school. Like people always say, “Kids are like sponges". "They soak up everything we give them.” As their teacher, I want to ensure that I can give them the best education they can get from me. I want to make sure they feel successful in their learning and be on the path to college.
My Project
Children learn through play. They are active learners. What they need are hands-on materials and the technology to help them in their school environment. The materials like Create-A-Path Magnetic Center and the Stand-Up Magnetic Write & Wipe Center will help them become better mathematicians, writers, scientists, and explorers. We need our children to learn and feel successful in their learning. Many of the manipulatives are geared towards math and science. I want to ensure that they have a solid foundation in STEM before they graduate to Kindergarten. Without a solid foundation of basic understanding of important concepts, it will be difficult to learn new concepts as it gets harder. Every child deserves equal access and opportunity to the road to success.
