Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I always enjoy having classroom money. Not only does it motivate my students but it helps them buy items that they might otherwise not be able to purchase. Having a classroom store also helps them learn the valuable lesson of being financially responsible in earning and spending money.

My students earn money in class by doing their work, trying their best, following the rules and all the basics that we as teachers want to see in our students.

They then get to spend it at our classroom store. Our store varies in prices from being able to design and make their own shirts and tote bags, to craft sets, snacks and candy. The bigger the item the more it cost, this is where learning to save money and being financially responsible comes in to play. If a student would like one of the higher priced items, they will need to save money.

One of the most popular items in our store is for students to design and make their own shirt or tote bag. The Heat Press machine that we had last year, broke down and we are in need of a new one so that my students can earn the ability to make their own shirt.

The most delicious items are the variety of candy offered. We need the skittles, cookies, gummies and other treats and snacks to have available to purchase. The crackers will be used for students when they are in need of a snack.

These items will not only motivate my students to do their best in school, but will teach them to be financially literate.
