Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Walking into a room without music or a sense of movement is traumatizing to children. Music gives children a sense of comfort and ease as they draw pictures and paint. Taking pictures of them throughout their task to share with their parent at the end of the day will give them a sense of empowerment.
The demographic of students that enters my VPK Pre-k Classroom are usually coming from impoverished areas within the boundaries of the school.
I can't say to much about my incoming students at this time because I do not know them; however, I want their first entrance into the classroom to be comforting and entertaining. As my students enter the classroom this year I want them to feel so comfortable that they will automatically want to stay. I want the music playing, activities set up that instantly appeals to their interest.
My Project
Because of the fact that we will have an operating cd player in the classroom, my students will be able to sing along, dance, and relax to music. My students will have access to water color paper so they can paint at will. My students will see their work of art placed around the room for their parents viewing as they walk into the classroom to pick them up. My students will experience the joy of me walking around the room snapping pictures of them throughout the day to boost their morale.
Throughout many of the activities of the day in which hula hoops comes into play as far as dancing with the hula loops while listening to music and outside exercise routines while using the hula hoops.
My project and your gift to my students will jump start their 2015-2016 school year to a great start.
To start off the year, they will have their music to sing along too or dance or whatever feeling that they get. They will have access to drawing paper, hopefully our school has crayons available for them. My students will have an array of beautiful hula hoops to manipulate. My students will have pictures taken throughout the day to share with friends and families for a life time.
