Being Organized is as Easy as ABC

My students need 2 four shelf shelving units along with 2 sets of bankers boxes and 3m utility hooks to help keep the materials for each learning unit organized and easy to find.

My Students

At our school, we firmly believe that all children, no matter what their cognitive levels are, have the capacity to learn. Through this belief, we as teachers are constantly finding creative and new learning approaches to help our students be successful.

This year I will be working with 20 amazing 4 year old preschool students attending our full day preschool program.

These students are either attending preschool for the very first time or transitioning from half-day to full day. The students come from various cultural, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds which lends itself to a diverse classroom environment. The students also have different learning preferences whether it is visual, kinesthetic or auditory. Regardless of their backgrounds and their learning preference, all of the students are eager to learn and explore their world around them. My goal is to give them as many tools as possible to become active and engaged learners.

My Project

The classroom in which I will be teaching this upcoming school year has very limited storage space. All of the preschool units are grouped by theme. Having the ability to have all of the materials grouped together in one spot by unit themes will greatly increase not only the organization within the classroom but will also allow me to store supplemental materials to enhance each unit.

Being organized allows for greater student mobility with in the classroom.

Because the classroom does not allow for any extra storage space, having the ability to organize materials, especially upward, will allow for less clutter within the classroom. I am requesting 2 chrome storage shelves that have 4 shelves each. These shelves are narrow enough to put against the wall in the back of the classroom and will let me vertically store the teaching materials I need for my students. The bankers boxes will also help the materials be organized and grouped by unit theme versus being placed randomly on the shelves. Lastly, the 3M hooks will allow me to hang materials and items around the classroom versus having them on the classroom floor. These items will significantly reduce the floor space that is currently being used to store materials.

More floor space equates to more open areas for the students to work, play and learn.
