My students are fun, learning oriented, and project driven. They love to learn new information, strategies, and skills. They are curious and always have excellent questions. My art students love to get their hands on new supplies and manipulate them for different projects. We love to make messes and we love recycling old things and turn them into new beautiful pieces of art. They love to work as independents, but also thrive in group collaborative art. They are an energetic group of kids who love new experiences.
My Project
I do not have a kiln in my art classroom so getting to work with air dry clay is a valuable learning experience for my students. As you can see, these supplies are pretty expensive, which is why my students have not had this experience in the past. If you help donate to our project my students will not only enjoy the hands on experience of working with clay, but will be utilizing their fine motor skills, proportional skills, decorating skills with acrylic paints, and much more! They will see what it is like to be a potter without the use of a kiln. This unit will cover so much in art history and future art jobs, as well as, cover several art standards they are required to learn.
