Mrs. A. from IL is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a wireless microphone system.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Most of my students have never been exposed to the technologies needed to produce a Broadway show. This could be the year that the unthinkable happens and they fall in love with the technology used for the play.
My students are great and deserve more than what they have.
They do not have the chance to be exposed to the technologies that are needed to put on a production. There has not been a Drama Club in 30 years. My school is a small school located in a poor area. There is not much funding for the fun activities that the students love. Last year was my first year teaching and I took on Drama Club with a hope and dream. My students are very talented, and I felt in my heart that they deserve a chance to show off their talents in Drama Club. Last year, we did not have the proper technology needed to put on a quality production. We proceeded with the production anyways. The biggest setback was not having microphones so their voices could be heard throughout the entire gym. If we only had the proper technology, the play would have been a huge success. This year, is our second year that there is a Drama Club and once again, I have taken it on with a hope and a dream.
My students will be using the materials during Drama Club practice and at the performances, we will put on for the district. They will learn how to properly use a microphone while putting on a live performance. The students will learn how to hold, turn on/off, and dance and sing using the microphones. They will also learn how to connect the microphone to a sound system, proper handling, and the importance of microphones in a live production. The microphones will also be used for other activities like pep assemblies and other assemblies that the kids are involved in at school. I can also use the microphone system in my classroom to help amplify my voice and keep the students engaged and learning.
I am a computer teacher and the microphones will be put to great use and teach students something that they may never get a chance to learn.
The microphone system is a gateway to giving students more career options for when they become grown. My students come for a poor and tough area, which gives them a small chance of success because all odds are against them. Just them being exposed to that type of technology gives them more of a chance to a great career path in life. They need to be exposed.
