Ms. S. from SC is requesting art supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need some basic art supplies to begin the next school year. Colored and black markers and adhesives like school glue will help get us started.

Our students have been working hard all year to make our school a "Leader In Me" school. A year's worth of artworks and projects are being installed to show how far our students have become in being terrific leaders in school. We have used a lot of supplies and need a few more to accomplish this school-wide goal.
Our school's art supply budget allows less than $1 per child, and that is already spent.
This is barely enough funding for some paper and crayons, let alone basic supplies like colored markers and glue.
Our school population is nearly 600 students, 98% of which receive free or reduced price meals. 25% have the added challenge of English being their second language. Parents are concerned with providing basic needs for their children, such as food, clothing, shelter, and safety.
Our students have been working on the "soft" skills needed to be successful in school and life. The school is in the process of an aesthetic update so it no longer looks "poor." Our students would benefit academically and emotionally with an update to the school, the leadership theme being in line with our newly implemented "The Leader in Me" program.
"All these markers are dry." "Do the best you can."
"This glue smells funny, is it old?" "It is all we have left.""May I use a Sharpie?" "We don't have any more."
We have exhausted most of our art supplies for this school year and are in desperate need of more to begin the next one. Markers are needed for basic drawing projects. Glue and adhesives for simple assemblages, collages, and sculptures.
New and plentiful supplies in the fall season sets a positive tone for entire school year. This is particularly important in our school, as almost all parents are unable to provide art supplies for their children to bring to school or to use at home.
