it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from an urban community in California, 100% receive free lunch. We lack materials and supplies because of major budget cuts in the elementary public schools, which has made it a bit difficult and has forced us to use our creativity to teach. I have a diverse group of energetic first graders this year. They range from a few high performing to majority of low performing students. Yet, I am determined to provide students with meaningful learning experiences where they can acquire life long skills to be successful individuals.
My Project
The beginning of the year is always the most exciting time of the year. Setting the right tone with the students from the start is so important. The binders, pencil boxes, scissors, and glue will give the students a head start so they won't have to worry about buying their own supplies, which many can't afford. It also alleviates the stress on the parents so they don't have to worry about purchasing the supplies. The hand and Clorox wipes teach students about germs and how to be responsible for their environment. It also helps speed up our clean up time and cuts down on sick students being out.
