Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am continually looking to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences, in an environment that feels like a comfortable "home" and is conducive to learning.

My students are creative, clever and very spontaneous.

The kids are 60% Hispanic, 35% Black, and 5% white and we need your help to make our classroom feel like a safe sanctuary. As a literacy interventionist and the struggle with reading acquisition and site word skills, these kids could use more of a fun and interesting way to learn these things.

My Project

My students need these resources to help them learn reading comprehension, basic sight words, blends and digraphs. It's difficult for ESOL students to learn the language, but making their learning fun will certainly go a long way into ensuring that they learn the words that they need.

Learning to read is very hard.

Learning to read in a different language is even more difficult. Anything that I can do to make their learning more enjoyable and fun would be great. I already have numerous games that I have created for the kids, but it would be nice to have resources that would "mix it up" for them.
