Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Sixth graders start middle school scared, disoriented, and full of energy.
Our school serves a diverse group of students, many of whom come from disadvantaged backgrounds, are in the process of acquiring English as a second or another language, and who have exceptionalities related to learning.
We are a Title I school and are always looking for ways to better support and motivate our students.
Our students are creative, expressive, friendly, and really value their interpersonal relationships. They need immediate feedback, attention, and a supportive environment. Some love sports, many enjoy memes, and all can achieve with the appropriate scaffolds.
My Project
Not all students next year are going to be able to start off the school year with backpacks.
This is a difficult time for many people, families included.
Helping provide about 20 backpacks to start the school year off with will hopefully help at least some students start off the school year feeling supported. At the very least, some families will have one less thing to worry about. No one is really sure what the fall and next academic year will look like for anyone, really. At some point, students will be coming back to school and are going to need something to help hold their materials.
