Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school strives to find the best in all students. Every child has capabilities, talents, and strengths. Most of the time, all students need is some kind exposure or motivation to be successful. The students in my class reach for excellence. They all naturally care about one another and continually make an effort to improve in all areas.

Although most my students struggle, they all have a Can Do Attitude.

Of my 26 students, two are English language learners, one receives resource services, one receives inclusion, while another is inclusion from a behavior unit. More than half of my class reads below a kindergarten level; however, they all have a CAN DO attitude. They strive to do their personal best to contribute to our classroom community as they prepare for their future.

My Project

These beginning level books will not only help my struggling students become better readers, these books will help the children become more confident readers. The book collections with their colorful characters will help students develop a life long love for reading.

All children may not learn the same way, on the same day, but all children can become successful readers!

Do you have a favorite character, that makes you smile even today? Characters like Amelia Bedelia and Fancy Nancy are more than colorful, these stories teach multiple meanings of words. Elephant and Piggy help teach manners and positional words as they play friendly jokes on each other. Mudge is a mischievous puppy, and Pigeon tries to help, but often causes havoc. All of these stories and characters become more complex as the student becomes a more fluent reader. The Green Light series of books help children recognize sight words that make up a large portion of our basic reading.
