Beginning Book Clubs

My students need 7 books, in sets of 5 copies each, to begin authentic book clubs.

My Students

I've moved schools from one where a readers workshop approach was utilized and highly successful to a different building where the main reading resource is the basal. Because of this, I need help procuring sets of books for real book clubs.

My students belong to the largest urban district in Indiana.

Since we are so large a district, different buildings have different ways of doing things. I plan on continuing to use a readers workshop approach in which all students read real texts at their independent levels, real texts are used to teach the reading lessons, and all students are engaged in authentic book clubs using high-interest and quality novels.

My Project

Here is how your donation will help. I have selected seven sets of novels that my students will read during their book clubs. These novels include adventure (The Penderwicks), mystery (The Hidden), historical fiction (The Woods Runner & Out of the Dust), and realistic fiction.

These novel sets will be used for years to come!
