Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My high school music students in grades 9-12 take music theory, harmony and A.P. theory classes. Our students are very interested in the music writing topics that are covered in these classes and want to give our students access to high quality technology to help them use the knowledge they have learned in the classroom.

Many of our students are considered low-income. This makes it necessary for our music department to supply students with access to technology that will help them practice their music writing skills. Many of our students would not have access to this technology outside of the school setting.

We would like to set up a music writing station in one of our classrooms that students can use to complete their writing assignments. We are seeking to implement the use of HP computer technology into our music instruction. We are asking for a laptop because it can be moved around easily for use in diverse classroom situations. Our students will benefit from this program in multiple ways. The use of computer software in the classroom setting will allow students to succeed at higher levels of understanding. Many of our students have limited experience in music composition. The use of music writing software makes my students less intimidated by the thousands of details that they need to remember when they create music. This benefits them as they take greater risks and reach for higher levels of understanding and success.

Please consider being part of this creative experience for our students. Many of our students are interested in pursuing music at the college level and have great interest in developing skill in writing music. Giving them access to a laptop to create music will encourage their creative abilities and allow them to experience success as they begin the life long study of music.
