Beebots: to Start the Journey to Technologies of the Future!
My students need a set of 6 Beebots to explore computer coding, and problem solving. Beebots can be used to teach in the following content areas: Computer Science, Math, English Language Arts, Social Studies, and Science!!

My Students
Our school is a Title I school in a rural region of Northern Nevada that includes a military base, making my classroom very diverse. Yet even with these differences, they all share a love of learning. They arrive every day eager to show me what they have retained from previous lessons and eager to soak up and seek out as much information as they can. It's amazing to watch the students expanding their knowledge of technology and the many ways it can be used in their lives.
I am currently educating students for jobs that don't yet exist, which require technologies that have yet to be conceived, which is why providing them with opportunities to understand 21st century technology at the foundation of their academic career is critical.
My Project
This year, along with two other teachers, I was given the opportunity to use Beebots on loan in my own classroom.
At the start of the year, working with the Beebots was a challenge, but with more time spent, students gained the understanding necessary to be able to program and troubleshoot the programming of their Beebots, leading to more avenues for effective lessons.
An example can be seen in the photograph above of my students successfully learning English Language Art standards by playing a sight word game.
We were also able to use the Beebots for Social Studies standards, mapping our school site and town, where students created three-dimensional caves and overpasses for Beebot to drive under. For all of these activities, the students engaged in the use of math to determine how many spaces Beebot needed to move, while working together to create, and taking turns when it was appropriate.
