My Students
I teach an amazing group of second grade dual language learners. We are a culturally diverse school. Most of the students are English language learners. Despite their challenges, they are very inquisitive and eager to learn.
My school is a Title I school, which means most students qualify for free breakfast and lunch.
We strive to meet all of their needs as they strive for academic excellence. Their tenacity to learn encourages me to create a fun learning environment so they are actively engaged in learning every day.
My Project
My budding scientists are inquisitive and love to learn about nature. This project will increase their knowledge about the importance of bees and help them promote awareness to save the bees. They will read books, read the ABUZZ magazine from the Bee Conservancy.org, and research the internet to learn more about bees. Then, they will creatively write about the lives of bees and how they are important in nature with the materials received from this project. They will raise awareness by creating books to share with others. Their books will be written with information they learned about bees and illustrations drawn by them. They will also create small posters that they will hang in school to help teach other students facts about bees.
Students who spend time teaching what they’ve learned go on to show better understanding and knowledge retention.
Instead of running from these very important insects my students will learn to appreciate what they do for us and help to protect them. They will BEE respectful and teach others simple ways to help save the bees. Thanking you for BEEing kind and supporting our project.
