My students are excited to come to school each day and to learn from one another. They enjoy working in collaborative groups and sharing their knowledge with each other. They enjoy using their critical thinking skills to evaluate new information and integrating the arts to show their learning. They get very excited any time we can use technology in the classroom and they aren't afraid to try something new.
Stephen Hawking once said, "Whether you want to uncover the secrets of the universe, or you want to pursue a career in the 21st century, basic computer programming is an essential skill to learn." With this quote in mind, I want to bring the world of robotics to my classroom.
My Project
I am requesting a Bee Bot starter kit so that my students can learn the basics of coding and programming and take their learning to the next level. Students will program the Bee Bot and then watch their code come to life as the Bee Bot acts out the program written by students.
Many of our environmental issues are begin solved by today's programmers and engineers.
This project will lay the ground work for my students to learn the skills necessary to become the engineers of tomorrow by teaching them the basic programming and coding skills that are needed for them to be successful.
I am also requesting 19 copies of the book The Honey Makers. This book will teach students about the role that real bees play in our environment. Through this book, my students will learn the buzz on how these remarkable insects work together to create honey.
These resources will help me bring science and robotics to life in my classroom and make a difference in students' learning and technology integration. My students will understand how robotics can make a difference in environmental issues. My students will be learning about technology that can truly improve our quality of life, while enhancing innovation.
