Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am so excited to be back at the school where it all started for me 15 years ago! This year I returned to my "home school" to teach 4th grade. It is the first time I have taught fourth graders and I'm loving it.
Science is a huge deal in fourth grade.
We have a specific set of state science standards that we are working hard on. The kids and I are loving all the knowledge and hand-on experiences we're exposed to. We are all learning so much.
In addition to the state standards I also tech them hands on STEM lessons. We have created, tested, experimented with and observed many different things this year. It's been such a wonderful change.
My Project
Science, Technology, and Engineering are the future of our education system. These Bee-Bots are small programmable robots that can be used by children in the classroom. The Bee-Bots have forty programmable commands. The commands range from simple commands to more complex commands.
I would love to use these robots to teach engaging, cooperative, small group lessons.
There are endless possibilities when it comes to planning activities using these robots. We can build ramps, mazes, have races, program them to draw certain things, and so on.
My students and I would love the opportunity to use these in our classroom. We feel that it will take our learning to the next level.
