First grade is quite a developmental year and I am always looking for ways to bring more creativity and engaging learning in the classroom. Bee-Bots are a great way to introduce new skills, develop and strengthen student character, math, language and problem-solving skills.
Bee-Bots are programmable robots designed for younger children to learn basic coding, computational thinking, and problem-solving skills through fun and engaging activities.
Students learn to create sequences of commands (forward, backward, left, right) to direct the Bee-Bots' movement.
In terms of computational thinking, students develop problem-solving skills, estimation, and debugging skills. Students use Bee-Bots for directional language development (forward, backward, left, right). Activities with Bee-Bots enhance spatial reasoning and understanding of shapes and directions. We can even integrate Bee-Bots into activities that support literacy (e.g., spelling and memory words) and numeracy (e.g., math problems).
I am eager to incorporate a set of Bee-Bots in our classroom. We are ready to make learning boards and begin exploring all the avenues of learning enrichment with Bee-Bots.
