Bee Bop Into Literacy

Help me give my students a dynamic learning environment that promotes both coding and literacy skills in an enjoyable and meaningful way with Bee-Bot robots.

My Project

Bee bots are fantastic tools for teaching both coding and literacy skills, especially in elementary education. We will start by introducing basic coding concepts using the Bee bots. Students will then learn to program them to move forward, backward, turn left, and turn right, learning the fundamentals of algorithmic thinking. After reading a story, my students can use Bee bots to recreate the sequence of events. They can also program the Bee bots to move to different parts of a mat or grid representing the story's settings.

My students will write down sequences of commands using pictures or simple words, fostering both coding and writing skills simultaneously.

The uses of Bee bots are unlimited. In researching ways to use them in the classroom, I found an abundance of teacher created materials on Teachers Pay Teachers. Bee bots will also help foster collaboration and communication skills by having students work together for some tasks.

I have amazing kids! We are in a rural community and I want to ensure they get the same experiences students in larger communities receive. I want to create a learning environment that promotes both coding and literacy skills in an enjoyable and meaningful way.
