Ms. Henderson from Dallas TX is requesting flexible seating through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students flexible seating options for their wiggles, musical instruments in the classroom, large print alphabet letters, and a coding project for beginners!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach a Special Education Functional Living Skills Class from 1st grade to 5th grade. It is a self contained glass so I teach every subject! I have a very diverse group of students. Over 90% of the students at my school are considered to have low socioeconomic status.
I have students with physical, intellectual and other disabilities in my class.
My students have many challenges daily. My students have a love of learning and come to school with smiles on their faces every day. They come excited to learn new things.
My life is so much enriched by working with the group of students I work with! I want to be able to provide my students with the best educational experiences possible. Even the smallest things excite my students.
With the many different disabilities in my room, having flexible seating, instruments in the classroom, large size alphabet letters and being able to learn coding will accommodate the different learning styles I have in my room. Being able to have some flexible seating is important in my classroom. Not all my students can sit comfortably in the regular chairs. Music is also very important to my students. It can serve may different functions for my students. Learning to Code involves higher order thinking which my students struggle with.
The donations made toward this project would help my students be able to be at their best!
The large size alphabet will help my visually impaired student be able to participate in phonics lessons more easily. The flexible seating is good for my students that have trouble sitting in a regular chair. They pay attention better when they are comfortable. The Rhythm set and additional musical items will help my students be able to participate better when they go to music class. They need more practice and having them in the classroom will allow them more practice time and I may just have the next "Beethoven" in my class! The Code & Go Activity Mouse is a great beginning coding activity. Some of my students may not be able to do paper and pencil tasks but excel at STEM activities.
I will first introduce the materials whole group. The musical instruments I will then use in small group setting as well as whole group. The flexible seating will be used with those students that need them the most. The Coding activity will be used in small collaborative groups after being introduced whole group. All of the items I am requesting are important to grow the whole child.
