My Students

I teach kindergarten students that come from a diverse background. I work in a magnet school so my students come from urban and suburban homes.

Although they are all coming from a variety of backgrounds, they all come to school eager to learn and explore all that they can together.

My goal, as their teacher, is to help them learn and grow as much as they can and to prepare them for the real world by teaching them the skills they will need to be successful students throughout their education.

My Project

My kindergartners are working on becoming writers. In order to see themselves as writers they need to publish their work.

Multicultural crayons will help my students illustrate their writing in an authentic way.

They will also use the caddies to hold all of their new writing supplies. Then we will be able to use the binding machine that we already have to turn their work into books that they can keep for ever. Being able to publish their writing into a book will be a great motivator during kindergarten writers workshop time. Writing in kindergarten can be challenging but with new supplies the students will be reinvigorated.
