Becoming Social Superheros

My students need to learn a variety of skills that are included in the these Learning to Get Along books and feeling focused books.

My Students

My students have aspirations of being superheroes, police officers, ballerinas, doctors, firefighters, princesses, teachers, and astronauts. Each of them is unique with an abundance of strengths and abilities. One area of commonality with the students I work with is that they have delays in their language development that makes learning and communicating an everyday challenge. These challenges include understanding and using social language. To teach them the language skills they need to make friends and become active members of their classroom communities, they need high interest and age-appropriate social skills books. This project will help support my pre-k to 1st grade students who are hungry to find play with their peers and be an effective communicator in their social and academic settings.

My Project

The students I work with have a variety of speech and language delays and disorders that make learning and communicating an everyday challenge. These challenges include understanding and using social language.

This collection of books and toys will be used to develop my students' social skills to "superhero strength," giving them the language skills they need to make friends and become active members of their classroom communities.

The collection of books target important skills such as sharing, joining play, listening and following rules. As well there are books that target emotions, a major factor in navigating social situations. Furthermore, I am requesting some games and toys that we can use to practice our newly learned skills. Practice makes perfect!
