Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students live in a low-income, highly diverse neighborhood. Our school population is primarily composed of ethnically diverse students who are recipients of free and reduced-price lunch. We are a Title I focus school that has a large population of ESL and ELL (English Language Learners) students who come from Spanish-speaking backgrounds. Most of my students face adversity in some fashion. However, they remain resilient, eager, and consistently take pride in their academic work. Our school community promotes a safe, caring, and rigorous learning environment.
My Project
In my kindergarten classroom, we use a lot of manipulatives to further explore and reinforce the content we're learning. We use everything from cubes and counters to pine cones and puzzles, but we need storage! The toy storage organizer will be used to house some books, math manipulatives (cubes, teddy bears, counters, etc.), and our toys used during indoor recess and free time. The shelving will be used to store science manipulatives, supplies, and station materials. These storage units will help to keep these objects organized and easily accessible throughout the school day. My students will use the magnetic writing paper to help organize our thoughts before writing. The superhero pennants will help our newly organized classroom look even more stunning.
Your generous donation will help promote an organized, accessible, and calm learning environment for my sweet kiddos!
