it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach 5th grade students in a low income community. Unfortunately, a lot of my students struggle with reading and writing. They are hard workers so consistency is key in making the necessary improvement.
Novel studies give students the opportunity to read grade level texts while improving on their reading skills.
Becoming Naomi Leon is an excellent novel to read because it focuses on theme and character development. Students will be able to see themselves in the main character, Naomi. This will engage them which will keep them motivated to read.
