Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Here at our elementary school, we are a title I School in Houston Texas. Our school neighborhood and students were greatly affected by Hurricane Harvey. We have created a sports program to give students an escape that includes soccer and basketball. These students are learning life skills through sports that will take them throughout life and help them become great citizens. Most of these students come from broken homes and can't afford to play on a organized sports team outside of school due to the high fees that are included. These students look forward to competing on game days & against each other at practice so they can free themselves and enjoy freeing their mind through sports.
My Project
This project would significantly help my students understand how to run with correct form. They will see the process of being a beginner to becoming a master runner. In the end, they will be better runners by learning the fundamentals needed to become a faster runner using the correct running form and implementing the skills learned to compete against other runners. They will be empowered to take the skills and knowledge as an individual to improve their teammates and become a better team. These students will get the opportunity to learn the sport of track and field while learning life skills through the art of running.
