My Students
I believe every child deserves the opportunity for an excellent education, and I am proud to partner with my school, other educators, families, and community leaders to strive toward this goal. I teach in a high poverty school zone in which 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. These amazing students need additional support because most of them come from low-income single family households of which many have little to no support or resources. Despite some of the challenges they face in and around their environment, every year my students come to school excited, full of life and eager to learn.
As a member of the AmeriCorps program, I set out to make our people safer, stronger and healthier; to strengthen our communities; and to get things done for America.
As a member of Metro Atlanta Teach for America, I have been positioned to significantly impact the life trajectories of students in our region’s high-need communities.
My Project
The iPad will allow my students to build their reading fluency and comprehension, and and become well-versed in using technology to direct their own learning. The iPad will be used for my small guided reading lessons.
The iPad will increase student engagement, familiarize my students with technology, and make learning experiences enjoyable and fun.
With this tool, students will be able to access IRead, reading a-z, interactive literacy activities, and digital reading lessons.
The iPad will build my students' confidence, and help them to become proficient readers. Your donation will create meaningful, authentic learning experiences, and increase overall academic achievement.
