Help me give my students Root robots to help them think "deep" and come out of their "shells" to make discoveries on their own using Root's unique exploration and coding capabilities.

My Students

My students are heterogeneously grouped with varied academic levels. They are hard-working, well-behaved, and enthusiastic about learning. They enjoy taking risks and exploring new ideas.

My students find learning to be more meaningful when they are having fun and when they are responsible for their own learning.

My school is a preschool to 5th grade school that serves a population of about 1,500 students from culturally diverse backgrounds. A majority of our students are from low-income families. Our school is dedicated to technology integration and technology-rich classrooms. Our school administration and teachers provide students with a high quality curriculum aligned to the Common Core.

My Project

The Root robots will help my students enter the world of ocean exploration as they use Root to explore the ocean's dynamic environment. From underwater ruins to undiscovered sea creatures, the seafloor is a perfect place to unlock the mysteries of the ocean. With the latest robotics technologies, the students will to solve the mysteries of the ocean through challenging missions.

The Case of the Pollution Pirates, The Leaky Bottom Mission, the Grief On the Reef, and the Fishin' Mission are some of the challenges that will engage my students in learning about the wonders of the ocean.

Imagine the excitement and interest students will have learning about the Earth's oceans through fun, hands-on learning. Inspired by the missions, students may then pursue a variety of independent projects such as what is being done to save the world's coral reefs, the pros and cons of whale watching, and what is being done to protect dolphins.

Using robotic technology will invite my students into a dynamic environment that will personally involve them in a meaningful way. I know I will be amazed at what my students will accomplish with the help of the Root robots.
