My students need supplies to add to their publishing center. I've ordered a die cut machine, die cuts, pens, and glue to embellish their homemade books.
We have a very special commitment to literacy and writing in our classroom. At least once a week we have writer's workshop, and students "publish" their writing after spending time in their writing groups to revise their writing. This year, students wanted to create their own special books.
My students are eager to participate in their own education.
They have agreed to go on an adventure of learning with me this year, as we explore Harry Potter and become authors. I have three classes of gifted learners, who, for the most part, fell out of love with writing. Having an opportunity to recharge their interest and giving them the confidence in writing they have been missing, makes me look forward to getting to school every day. Our school does not have extra money for supplies, and so I've decided to appeal to Donors Choose to get the extras that will inspire my classes.
My Project
Students will be creating books, writing letters, making posters, and illustrating their work. We have an owl mail center, and students will be able to use the art supplies to add to the cards they make to send to each other. Every year, students create one of a kind projects based on their reading, and the die cuts will be so useful. This year, students will create their own illustrated anthologies of their writing.
I believe that my students will have an amazing experience using these supplies to publish their work.
I have asked for a die cut machine to help them illustrate and create a literacy rich classroom, a thermal book binder to make their projects look professional, art supplies to embellish projects, fancy paper and pens. Students will supply imagination. They will have a lasting reminder of the year they became authors and realized that writing does in fact, matter!
