This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school has the goal of creating permanent student artwork throughout our site. We believe that the setting influences the student’s receptivity to learning. We need more beauty!

I run an art program for 420 diverse, curious, loving, vivacious, city dwelling elementary students in a low-income school.

These kids thrive when given a change to build something. They thrive when they have had a hand in creating the environment they attend school in. Please help us create beautiful mosaics by choosing to fund our project.

My Project

Students will design and create mosaic signs. We will hang these signs on the fence facing a busy street and possibly inside our site as well. Students will create an image that reflects the name of our school and the values we hold.

We will have larger boards that are painted.

In addition, we will create areas filled in with mosaic. We will be using the tiles, glue, grout, and small boards to make a series of mosaics that represent the ecosystem found in a river. We will hang all of these on the fence to make a buffer from the traffic as well as beautify both the city side and playground side of our site with student art, environmental education, and values articulation.
