Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Douglas MacArthur Girls' Leadership Academy is an all girls' elementary public school in Cleveland, Ohio. Our girls are striving to become compassionate, competent, confident leaders for their school, communities, and most importantly themselves. This is evident as our school is a premier academic public school in the greater Cleveland area because our students believe, achieve, and succeed. I am requesting a printer with additional ink and a variety of colored cardstocks to help enhance their learning experience.

Bright, colorful bulletin boards and flyers create a warm and inviting environment that enhances ideas and builds the school community.

I will use the printer and cardstock to create bulletin boards that encourage the students, display ideas, provide special recognition, and showcase various students and organizations. Our students truly enjoy and appreciate the various bulletin boards throughout our school. Our bulletin boards include birthday celebrations, recognition of various students in various schoolwide organizations such as volleyball, basketball, track, anti-bullying/mediation groups, theatre, school leadership team, and art/ceramic club, sharing inspiration for women both locally and nationally, cultural celebrations and inclusions, current events, and motivating quotes. Our girls are the future and it will be bright and creative just like our bulletin boards.
