My Project

My students are part of a program for full day PreK that is a collaboration between Head Start and the School District. This program gives children from all cultures, areas, and incomes an opportunity to learn and thrive within the district. My energetic preschoolers enter the classroom ready to learn, discover, and explore. We anticipate our class growing to 20 students from ages three to five years of age. Education and especially creative endeavors are both a privilege and a right that some children are not granted equal access to. With visual arts, children can learn and explore language and literacy and experiment and socialize in meaningful ways.

In order for children to learn to communicate and articulate thought, they need to be encouraged to express themselves through creative experiences, more so when other communication methods contain barriers.

Children need to freely express their thinking and ideas on a blank paper without restricting access to materials. We are asking for a replenishment of highly used materials we have low or no stock of.

Blaine is a Title I campus where all of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. Our campus serves children living in the Strawberry Mansion, North Philly area. We would be ever so grateful for any donations so that we can provide students with a well stocked art space that is designed at their level.
