These first graders are energetic, hard-working, determined students who love coming to school every day! The students live in a high poverty section of the city and the majority of them receive free breakfast and lunch at school. We have a large population of ESL learners and are increasing our inclusion classroom settings each year.
These students are eager to learn, to explore and to be challenged!
Our school is a small, close-knit community where our students are taught to believe in themselves and that anything is possible!
My first grade students need printer ink so we can publish our wonderful writing pieces this year! We work on personal narratives, all about nonfiction books, how-to books, and opinion/persuasive pieces. The students love to type up their writing to work on their computer keyboard skills. Being able to print their finished pieces is a proud moment for my students. We love to have publishing parties where we invite our school community to come and listen to our writing pieces. It is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our students and encourage them to continue working hard and striving for a goal!
