This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I hope to continue building a thoughtful and curated classroom library for our students. "Benji's Busy Brain," "My Brain is a Race Car," and "My Brain, My Brain, My Beautiful Brain," are books that not only help students better understand their unique and neuro-divergent brains, but also provide strategies and tools to improve their focus. A magnetic bookshelf will be perfect to display these wonderful books and a large basket would help us organize the wobble cushions and pillows students use to get comfy and cozy when reading.

These items will allow us to create a neat, engaging, and supportive classroom environment for students with Autism, ADHD, and specific learning disabilities.

Since I work with students across grade levels and a variety of reading skills, I am constantly printing differentiated tasks and go through printer ink quickly. Ink cartridges will make it possible for us to print appropriate materials. Special highlighters allow students to practice annotations without worrying about making mistakes since it's possible to erase unnecessary highlights, minimizing visual clutter. Easy to grip pencils and scented or glittery pens can motivate students that usually struggle with writing to be more excited about the task.
