My classroom is full of amazing students. They are so special to me and I want them all to succeed. They come to school with many different academic and social needs and as their teacher, I believe it is my job to keep them safe, make them feel loved, and prepare them for the next grade.
At my school, we have 68% of our students who come to us from low-income families, and 30% who are English Second Language students.
Statistics say this means my students face greater obstacles in finding success in the classroom. My students and their families are hard-working, smart, and kind. I hope that with this grant I can help build pathways for my students to achieve success in school where they might otherwise struggle to succeed.
My Project
This grant will provide my students with a beautiful place to display classroom books. Our current library is hard to navigate and fid books. The new shelves will help my students find and read books that are interesting to them. At our school we want our students to be readers and leaders. This grant will help us reach that goal.
The books this grant will provide will help celebrate and represent the beauty and diversity found in my classroom.
Students love to read about and see themselves in books. This grant will provide them this needed and important opportunity.
