it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are 6th - 8th grade blossoming percussionists and are some of the best kids in the land! It is so amazing to see how their instrinsic motivation and work ethic has improved since the pandemic and they are YEARNING to be great! I want to give them everything they need to reach their own personal goals as well as the lofty goals I set for them. Our district and our campus has a diminishing budget as MANY of the schools around the country are experiencing. We are in a wonderful community that values the teachers and the kids, however, despite the "village" mentality, our area is struggling economically and many families in our village are unable to contribute disposable income to activities like sports and music.
My goal with this project is to provide my percussionists with much needed equipment that should be standard in every middle school band hall.
They are lacking so many supplies and instruments that they cannot perform efficiently with the ensemble. BUT THEY WANT TO BE AWESOME. These kids are so special because the intense desire is there, but the needed equipment is not. Please keep these amazing students in mind and help them achieve the success they deserve!
