This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every day my students have the opportunity to express themselves through dance. With all of that moving around, they can work up quite a sweat. Unfortunately, our dance room does not have air conditioning, and with the recent surge in warm temperatures, the conditions have become unbearable.

Our public 6th to 8th grade middle school in California is home to a student population of just over 1,100 that is about 78% Hispanic/Latino, 10% White, 5% African American, and 3% Asian.

74% of students are socioeconomically disadvantaged (receive free or reduced price lunch), 45% are English Language Learners, and 11% are students with disabilities.

My Project

The fans will be spread out throughout the classroom to help circulate the air on hot days. The cooler atmosphere will make learning more comfortable and help prevent students (and the teacher) from becoming overheated. This will enable students to focus on the dance instruction instead of how hot it is.
