This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a group of hardworking individuals who strive to achieve. They come to school knowing it will be a place to enrich their minds and their bodies. In school, they strive for knowledge and a love of literature, mathematics, science, engineering, technology, and the arts. My students are hopeful and spirited towards learning. They desire to learn and come to school for fun and enriched lessons. They love literature, enjoy reading, and they love science and the arts. They are creative and full of ideas to spark the curriculum. My students are in a STEM Magnet program that unfortunately lacks the technology to meet the demands of the high quality lessons created.

My Project

Students in upper elementary tend to not find joy in just fitness. Many teachers just have them play in a yard area and call it P.E.

I want to make physical education fun and engaging for my fifth graders.

These bean bags and scooter boards will allow for cardio driven lessons that are fun and encourage healthy competitive team building. Students will work in pairs or in larger groups to move the bean bags in obstacle courses. Students will have to strategize and work together to develop the best plan to complete the challenge. This is just one of many examples of how I intend to motivate my students during P.E. with the use of the scooter boards and bean bags.
