This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students attend a high-poverty school with very limited resources. 100% of students are offered a free hot breakfast and lunch. A large number of my students attend a before-school program AND an after-school program, leaving them at school for close to a total of 8-10 hours per day. There is limited parent involvement in my classroom, as most parents are busy with either work or attending school themselves. With all of this data, it is so surprising that my students are still passionate about learning, regardless of their lack of resources.
As an educator at a high poverty school I am inspired to gather more resources for students to thrive and further their love of learning!
My Project
My students LOVE PE! They are so thrilled when it is time to go outside and enjoy the sunshine. These bean bags and cones will provide us with multiple PE activities to enhance their hand-eye coordination skills and to promote partnership learning.
Promoting health and activity is important at such a young age!
My students have not had the opportunity to experience a true physical education program. They do not have a foundation for health and physical activity, but they are so eager to have PE! Many students lack the correct coordination to perform basic motor skills, but they are a very capable and athletic bunch that love to move!
