Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are our future. More than 75% are considered poverty level. A majority are second language learners.
My students are nevertheless bright, inquisitive, and love to learn.
Their eagerness to learn is contagious! They need every opportunity during the school day to practice the skills they need to be successful.
Keeping them engaged is an ongoing challenge. With more and more students being raised with easy access to devices, choice and diversity within the classroom environment are more essential than ever.
My Project
The Bean Bag Chairs I am requesting already have a home in my reading corner. Students actively read more when they are comfortable and with friends. Having these chairs will encourage my students to curl up with a book and go on an adventure through the pages.
Students in Fourth Grade are making a huge transition from "learning to read" to "using reading to learn." It can be stressful, especially for reluctant readers.
Giving them a comfy place to enjoy reading during the day gives the magic of reading a chance to happen.
This year, I am fortunate to return to my favorite grade to teach, fourth. I am also changing classrooms and need to get this room ready for the energy and inquisitiveness that is a nine-year-old. Having these bean bag chairs will be a very welcome addition to my classroom environment.
