Head Start is a high-quality preschool program for 3 to 5-year-old students, at no cost to their families. We teach a group of at-risk 4-year-old students, and our primary goal is to prepare our students for Kindergarten. Enrollment in our program gives them many fun and engaging activities including story time, small group lessons, free choice time, music and movement, art, outside time, breakfast, lunch, and snack, and rest time.
Head Start is a federally-funded educational program for eligible 3 to 5-year-old children.
Our building holds four Head Start classrooms, two three-year-old classrooms, and two four-year-old classrooms. We work every day on helping our students become children who are ready to succeed in kindergarten. In addition to math, reading, science, and art skills, our children are taught about cooperation, problem-solving, and responsibility. Our students work hard at being positive contributors to our classroom and are always remembering our positive rules at school: always be kind, be safe, and care for our environment.
We want to make our library area more cozy and inviting! We want to create a space that is comfortable and relaxing, and also a safe space that our students can go to calm down and relax. The bean bags are the perfect size for our students, and the bright colors will match our fun classroom aesthetic. Also, the matching pillows will create additional spaces for our students to settle down and read with each other or on their own.
Students need comfortable classroom spaces to relax, engage in quiet learning games, and grow their love of reading!
We want to create a space that our students will love, and ultimately will motivate them to spend more time reading. These resources will help to foster a love for reading and add to our loving and safe classroom community.
