Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are hardworking, bright, young individuals. They attend school each and every day, ready to learn and meet our high expectations. My students love challenges and face difficulties each and every day with smiles on their faces.
My students come from a Title I school with a high population of English learners.
Most come from low-income households and have limited resources and experiences. For many of my students, their only chance of life-enriching activities is at school. They love school, and I want to make this place the most enriching place for them!
My Project
Learning is hard. Being in 6th grade is hard. Distance Learning as a 6th grader has been the biggest challenge for my students. No amount of cheerleading I do just seemed to get kids excited about being in school. That is, until we started incorporating STEM and coding lessons with our classroom lasers!
Help me create personalized coded ornaments to send to my students for our online coding and art sessions to enhance our learning!
Please help us replace our broken laser cutter with an Orion 60w laser, water chiller, and lightburn software. I'd like to use this new laser to engrave and cut designs that the students create during our online coding class together. An online platform called Tinkercad allows students to code mathematical designs that students can visually see. I can cut these designs and send them to my students so that we can paint and decorate together during distance learning.
I hope to connect with my students with this product during our distance learning journey. While I cannot physically be with my students, I can find a way to have students code and create where I can cut and print their creations to send to the students. Please help me make a sincere connection with my students and get them excited about school during distance learning!
