I teach first-grade students at a Title I school in Florida, where 100 percent of our students receive complimentary breakfast and lunch. Despite many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They look forward to this last quarter of the school year and are working hard to do their best. They are also looking forward to having an End-of-Year Beach Party!
My students worked hard this year, and I hope to give them a book and beach decorations to make their beach party dreams come true.
I have learned that allowing the students to pick their party helps them have an internal drive. Well, this year is no exception! I asked the students how they hoped our end-of-the-year party would look, and they said, "Beach balls, sand pails, and beach books!"
