I teach first grade students at a Title I school in Florida where one hundred percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They are all looking forward to this last quarter of the school year and are working hard to do their best. They are looking forward to having a beach-themed, end-of-the-year party.
My students worked hard this year, and I hope to make their beach party dreams come true with beach toys and beach decorations.
I have learned that allowing the students to pick their party theme really helps them have internal drive. Well, this year is no exception! I asked the students how they hoped our end-of-the-year party would look and they said, "Beach balls, sand pails, and beach books!"
